Since Hoosier is the new spec tire, if my driver wears purple will that make him faster?

We had a great 2009 banquet! If you couldnâ??t attend, please try to next year. It's fun for everyone. I had a great time and really enjoyed seeing everyone in a social setting, outside the track. Dwayne did a wonderful job on the trophies. They were beautiful. The poster pictures that Ashley donated for the feature winners were awsome. Nancy Hunt received the HQMA 'STAR' award and I felt like crying when I saw her reaction. It feels great recognizing all of our members for their hard work and dedication. Itâ??s a hoot watching the kids get their plaques and trophies. Theyâ??ve worked hard all year and deserve recognition. I also wanted to tell Nelson that he did a great job as President the past two years and to let him know Iâ??m proud of him. It took a lot of his personal time so I'm glad it's over, but I'm sure myself and others are grateful for his leadership and for keeping our club going in the right direction.

It is hard to disagree with anything anyone says negative about quarter midget racing. However; there is much more positive things that sadly seem less spoken or in print. It is a short ride and you will miss it when your kid grows out of the sport. When you reflect back and people remember back when you raced what is your legacy? Did you leave the sport in better shape than when you started? Did you advance the sport for other kids? What will be remembered? I know one thing, how Jimmy Wall will be remembered and it is a good example to attempt to follow.

Reading some of these entries in your guest book, I see you have all the things going that caused me to get out of quarter midget racing. The "sport" has become a very expensive one and those of us that spent all night working on the cars so our kids could compete and several hours a day getting the dirt track ready, helping other drivers and their parents fit in by learning to be good sports... well when they started letting outsiders come race with us using different specs and a win or else attitude...the "sport" soured a bit even though my boy was the winniest driver around, in his car or anyone elses, we just were not having the fun as in the beginning. My son Jim is now a paralyzed Viet Nam vet living in Lake Havasu, AZ and will be 60 yrs old April 23 rd 2010. I would like to send a photo of him in his car if I can. Need an addy though. Jim Sr.

well if bad calls and people not liking you because you are winning i am good with that. Me and my whole family are very competive and bring a lot on my self because i do provoke some of the handlers because it is funny on how serious and mad they get. its funny to me how stressed people will get if you pull you car up in your trailer after a race. one of my motors smokes a little and i had a handler say something to me about it a couple of races ago. so i told him i may change it out. i was quickly informed that if i do after a heat race i would have to start at the end. i new that all ready and was never going to change it out anyway but i acked like i didn't no and put it in my trailer and set in there for a while. after the race was over the tech man told me someone had come up to him and told him i was changing my motor out and was not going to tell him and wanted him to come check . so some of its my fault but i really got a kick out of that. and i proved how bad people want to beat you. any way like i said if thats what its like when you are winning i can deal with that. and to be honest most competive people excel under a little controversy . so in short this is a sport and sopposed to be funny for everyone if its not and you don't like the people there you might want to look into a new sport, we don't have big ideas of nascar just love to race and have fun.

Nelson,
I talked with you on the phone a few days ago about the Downs show, and then me and a couple of friends drove to Huntsville Saturday and observed from about noon until about 3:00 PM. I thought the show was outstanding and am greatly impressed with the facility. My only complaint was that I thought that the Flag Man was lacking in confidence and tended to run to many unnecessary caution laps, and he tried to tell them to bunch up when they were already bunched up. I think that that effort tended to be confusing to the drivers. USAC is probably looking for him, as they always do the same thing at ORP.
Congratulations on a job well done. We’ll try and get back for a regular show later.
