Reading some of these entries in your guest book, I see you have all the things going that caused me to get out of quarter midget racing. The "sport" has become a very expensive one and those of us that spent all night working on the cars so our kids could compete and several hours a day getting the dirt track ready, helping other drivers and their parents fit in by learning to be good sports... well when they started letting outsiders come race with us using different specs and a win or else attitude...the "sport" soured a bit even though my boy was the winniest driver around, in his car or anyone elses, we just were not having the fun as in the beginning. My son Jim is now a paralyzed Viet Nam vet living in Lake Havasu, AZ and will be 60 yrs old April 23 rd 2010. I would like to send a photo of him in his car if I can. Need an addy though. Jim Sr.

well if bad calls and people not liking you because you are winning i am good with that. Me and my whole family are very competive and bring a lot on my self because i do provoke some of the handlers because it is funny on how serious and mad they get. its funny to me how stressed people will get if you pull you car up in your trailer after a race. one of my motors smokes a little and i had a handler say something to me about it a couple of races ago. so i told him i may change it out. i was quickly informed that if i do after a heat race i would have to start at the end. i new that all ready and was never going to change it out anyway but i acked like i didn't no and put it in my trailer and set in there for a while. after the race was over the tech man told me someone had come up to him and told him i was changing my motor out and was not going to tell him and wanted him to come check . so some of its my fault but i really got a kick out of that. and i proved how bad people want to beat you. any way like i said if thats what its like when you are winning i can deal with that. and to be honest most competive people excel under a little controversy . so in short this is a sport and sopposed to be funny for everyone if its not and you don't like the people there you might want to look into a new sport, we don't have big ideas of nascar just love to race and have fun.

This is the kind of stuff that happens when you win. Your child gets the call whether it is his fault or not! But yet we have had this all year long with adults against innocent children. Just make the right call, be fair to all the kids!!! TO SHANE;... get used to the calls if you are winning!!!!They will do everything they can to hurt not you but your child, because there child cant beat your child. My driver was leading the race a few races ago and the judges wanted to make a charging call and he is the leader of the race. Duh!!!!!!!! Read the rules!

What was bad about the whole thing sat was this was our last points race there were people running for points that lost a spot by not getting to finish the race, we should have never run the race saturday knowing that we couldn't finish it. and there never should have been a board meeting or vote that is the race dir. call, on race day the RD is in control and its not up for a vote of the BOD . My real problem is with the judging i no that its a judgment call but we got fliped in the Sr. honda race and there was no call and we were charged a DOT the RD told me no judge say the wreack and at the end of the race we got a charge call . i had a novice handler come to me that was judging that race and he said he say the wreack and made a no call and was over ruled , if the driver is not 100% at fault then its a no call.now if you want to no what the right call was on the last lap wreak just go to the pic section and you will see one of the pic where Tyler was up beside the outside car at the flag stand. and to top it off the car that we wreaked with was a friend of tylers which makes it worse, then the handler comes over to me and tyler sitting in line at the scales and starts yelling to me and tyler that tyler took her son out. and in the heat of the battle me and most everone there does the same thing so we were not upset with that. as soon as tyler got out of the car he told the driver he was sorry that it happened, and no way did tyler try or mean to take someone out, he just know that he has to try to get to the transfer spot plus 1. so after all is said we are not going to lose friends over any of this. and would like to say congrats to Rylee Loveday 2009 sr. honda camp. great job girl

My bad! I am not too proud to admit a mistake. I thought you were talking about the HQMA BOD meeting we had Sat. night at the track---- since you said the sun was shining and it would be a great day to race =)

Mrs. Brown I have no idea what you are talking about. I was talking about the National BOD Meeting

What was bogus about the BOD meeting. We met - we read the HQMA racing rules - and we made the decision based on the rules. The rules state that the race is considered complete if all heat races (or qualifying) are complete. We even voted if anyone wanted to race on Sunday and ONLY 2 voted to race. If you are not trying to start drama - why don't you sign your name?

Nelson,
I talked with you on the phone a few days ago about the Downs show, and then me and a couple of friends drove to Huntsville Saturday and observed from about noon until about 3:00 PM. I thought the show was outstanding and am greatly impressed with the facility. My only complaint was that I thought that the Flag Man was lacking in confidence and tended to run to many unnecessary caution laps, and he tried to tell them to bunch up when they were already bunched up. I think that that effort tended to be confusing to the drivers. USAC is probably looking for him, as they always do the same thing at ORP.
Congratulations on a job well done. We’ll try and get back for a regular show later.
